Daily Check In: Day 5

Took a break on working out today so that I can restart my cycle on monday (M,W,F legs and T, Th, Sat Arms).
Lunch: Some light macaroni and cheese and fat free yogurt
Dinner: Grilled chicken, grilled corn on the cob and roasted potatoes.

Went shopping and did a lot of running around with Rae but spent most of the day on household chores (those crummy things like laundry and dishes). So a pretty boring day, but I'll take boring any day of the week over crazy! lol

Daily Check In: Days 3 & 4

I'm already getting horrible at checking in. It's been a long weekend. Rae and I went to the farmers market early this morning then straight to the grocery store. Got some awesome veggies at the farmers market and lots of great healthy food at the store.

I have now completed 6 straight days of working out and getting to the gym!!!! I'll update with the eating and workouts later!

Daily Check-In: Day 2

Alright, this is really for Thursday.

Very busy day in our household! Had a playdate with some of my "young moms group" ladies. Went to the mall with a few ladies. Came home and changed to get to the gym. Showered and changed at the gym to meet up with a friend at the local spray park. Rae napped maybe an hour through the entire day. And man did it show last night! Yikes! haha

So at the gym, I was in a rush so I did:
17 minutes on the elliptical
3 sets of 15 reps at 50 lbs on shoulder presses and shoulder pulls (names are not right, but you know what I mean)
3 sets of 15 at 30 lbs on tricep pushes and bicep pulls (you can tell where my weak spots are)
17 minutes on the elliptical

After getting home I did 50 crunches and 25 side crunches on each side
25 superman lifts stopping every 10th to hold for 5 seconds
A minute plank followed by 30 seconds on each side in plank

Lunch - Burger and Frings (shared half with my daughter) from Runza (again, not good, but we didn't even get home until 3:30 yesterday).
Dinner - I had about 1/2 cup of macaroni and cheese and some fat free strawberry yogurt.

Daily Check-In: Day 1

I'm thinking it's important to keep track and be held accountable for exercise and nutrition as well as those numbers. Because we all know the numbers won't change without changing your lifestyle some. So I'm going to start posting general eating habits and exercise as well. Here goes day 1...

Today was a horrible eating day.
"Lunch" (Very late today, like 4:30) - Quarter Pounder meal from McDonalds.
Snack - Half of a cherry shake from DQ.
"Dinner" (After I got home from the gym around 9:30) - A protein shake and a turkey and cheese hot dog.
Rough day in some personal aspects and my lunch of salad got halted, so by the time I got around to eating, McDonald's it was. I'm hoping that I can get my grocery list in check and make sure that next week I'll have what I need for quick, healthy lunches. For now, all I can do is do better tomorrow.

Spent the first 15 minutes at the gym on the elliptical (got in a mile and a half).
3 sets of 15 reps at 90 inner and outer thigh workouts and leg presses.
3 sets of 15 quad and hamstring workouts at 70lbs.
50 "calf rises" with both legs, then 25 on each side.
Hit the elliptical for another half hour (maintaing over 5 mph the whole time and getting 2.5 miles).
Came home and did:
50 crunches, 25 side crunches each side
a minute plank followed by 30 seconds on each side in plank
25 "superman lifts", holding 5 seconds on each 5th one.

Weigh In Wednesday #1

Since my biggest goal at the moment is to get my health under control, I'm going to aim for my own "Weigh in Wednesday". I'll check my weight, neck measurement, waist measurement, and hip measurement. Every Wednesday I'll record that data so I can see where we're headed.
These original numbers are going to be bad, I warn you now.

Weight 182 (on the gym's scale in a tank, shorts, and my "workout shoes".
Neck (Measured right in the middle) - 13.5
Waist (Measured across the widest part, in the middle of my belly button) - 40
Hips (Measured at the widest park, right below my hip bones) - 44

My measurements might be a bit off because I just use a fabric tape measure. Take that for what it's worth and let me know if you have a better way of measuring.

If you're brave enough to do WIW with me, please feel free to post your stats below. I think posting them "publicly" gives you something to hold yourself to. I'm hoping it will for me.

A Small Introduction

So I remember having a blog many years ago and posting stupid things about boys and friends...and more boys. I went back a few years ago and re-read everything I had written. I could not have been more embarrassed about what I put out there. Then I have to remember I was 13 when I started that blog! But when I quit that blog, blogs were out of style and I figured I'd never write one again. I was soooo over being dumb over friends and guys (haha, I had no idea where life would lead me).
Now here I am, 7 years later. I'm 22...and starting another blog!

Why now? I think it's really because I'm trying to start on a new path and get serious. I may not be totally over the guys yet, but I've certainly shifted my focus. To a girl. She's needy and not exactly the nicest person all the time, but what can you do? She's my daughter.

So I suppose that leads me to who I am. I'm Christina. 22 years old. Single mother to a beautiful 17 month old. Direct Support Professional for a company working with individuals with mental and physical disabilities.

Who I'm not is your "typical" 22 year old. You aren't likely to catch me at a party. Or at the bars. You aren't likely to catch me with a group of young ladies while my daughter stays at home with sitters or my parents. My daughters father wasn't just some one night stand gone wrong (or right, haha).

The most important thing for me right now it my daughter and my health. I'm focusing on building things to make my daughters life better, and mine as well. I'm working on making more foods at home. I'm focused on making my daughter educational toys rather than just shoving some "educational" computer game in her face. I'm focused on getting healthy and getting in shape. So that's what you're likely to find here: kids activities, recipies and weight loss information, ideas and updates. Of course you'll also get the occasional post about my life as I struggle to find balance in being a mom, an employee, and a woman who stands on her own feet.
